【TwitterAPI】自動フォローは規約違反らしい

Twitter Developersで作成した自動フォローを行うアプリが、先日停止されていることに気づきました。

ここではこの件についてメモをとっておこうと思います。

停止されたアプリについて

Twitterでbot用アカウントを作成し、Twitter Developersでアプリケーションを作成しました。

そのアプリケーションの内容は、

bot用アカウントで特定のジャンルのツイートを自動的に行う
その特定のジャンルに関連するキーワードを呟いているユーザーを自動的にフォローする

というものです。

アプリの停止

このアプリを今年の4月から稼働し、何の問題もなく動いていたのですが、先日（6月の中旬くらいに）このアプリが停止されていることに気づきました。

はて？と思い、Twitter Developersにログインしたところ、次のようなメッセージが。

Restricted from performing write actions

直訳すると「書き込み操作の実行を制限しています」とのこと。

メールが来ていた

実はアプリが停止されたことに気づく前に、Twitter社から次のようなメールをもらっていました。

This is a notice that your application, ******（アプリ名）, is no longer allowed to perform write operations.
こちらのアプリケーションがTwitter APIの利用規約に準拠していることをご確認ください。

To request that your application be re-enabled for write operations, please visit our support form.

While this restriction is still in place, please do not attempt to register a new API key for your application without authorization from Twitter.

Such an action is a violation of our API Terms of Service and may result in the permanent suspension of your application (as well as any associated developer accounts).

このメールをもらった瞬間、「読む必要はないだろう」と思ってすぐに閉じたのですが、案の定アプリ停止のメールがきていました。

自動フォローは規約違反

何が原因なの？と思っていろいろと調べた結果、ここに書いてあるように自動フォローが規約違反だということを知りました。

Automated following and unfollowing

You may not use or develop any application that allows for the following or unfollowing of user accounts in a bulk or automated manner. Using block as a means to unfollow users is also not allowed. Accounts and applications that engage in this practice will be suspended. Please also review our Following rules and best practices to ensure you are in compliance. Also note that applications that claim to get users more followers are prohibited under the Twitter Rules.

一言で訳すと、「自動でフォローやフォロー解除をしていると凍結する」とのこと。
